Frequently Asked Questions

You may have lots of questions to ask about Medicash Active. On this page we've answered the questions that are asked most often in relation to our health cash plans. If your question isn't listed, simply contact us to find out more.

How much will it cost?

To find out how little Medicash Active would cost call us today on 0800 011 2222, complete an online quote request here, or make an appointment for one of our business development managers to come and see you.

Is there an age limit on joining?

There is no upper age limit on a company-paid or company subsidised plan provided that the individual is still actively employed within your organisation. For employee funded plans, new members must be between 16 and 65 at the time of joining. There's no medical required to join and premiums are not based on age.

What happens when an employee retires or leaves the company?

Simply let the Medicash team know that an employee is leaving and we will contact them and offer them the most appropriate alternative scheme from our portfolio of products.

Are all benefits paid at 100% of receipt value?

All receipted benefits on Medicash Active are paid at 100% of the receipt value up to the maximum annual limit for the chosen level of cover.

Are pre-existing conditions accepted?

For company paid schemes, the pre-existing conditions clause in the Terms and Conditions is waived. However, Birth of a Child claims are still subject to a 12 month waiting period.

On employee funded schemes, pre-existing conditions in relation to Inpatient Stays and Hospital Daycase claims are always subject to a 12 month waiting period before benefit can be claimed regardless of any promotional offer that may apply to other benefits.

Will I get annual reports of the claims history of my organisation?

Yes, on request. Medicash are able to provide you with an annual report showing how many claims were made for each of the benefits by your employees, and the total amount claimed. However, for data protection reasons these will be group figures as we cannot supply figures on an individual basis.

What support do you give to your client companies?

We will assign a dedicated account manager to your organisation who you can call upon at any time with any questions. We can also help you to promote the scheme in the workplace. Find out more about our support package here.

What do you do with your profits?

Medicash is a not-for-profit organisation that is run solely for the benefit of its members. Around 80% of our premium income is paid straight back to members in benefits, while any profits that are generated are either reinvested in the business, helping to improve our products and service for the future, or donated to health related charities through our two charitable trusts.

How can my employees pay for this plan?

It's entirely up to you! Employees covered on a voluntary scheme can either pay via payroll deduction or direct to Medicash via Direct Debit. Company paid schemes operating voluntary top-ups are required to be paid via payroll deduction.
