Frequently Asked Questions

You'll no doubt have lots of questions to ask about Medicash Smile. On this page we've answered the questions that are asked most often in relation to our health cash plans. If your question isn't listed, simply contact us to find out more.

How much will it cost?

To find out how little it would cost to cover your workforce call us today on 0800 011 2222, complete an online quote request here, or make an appointment for one of our business development managers to come and see you.

Is there an age limit on joining?

There is no upper age limit on joining Medicash Smile provided that the individual is still actively employed within the organisation. There's no dental assessment required to join and premiums are not based on age.

Are all benefits paid at the full value of the receipt?

All receipted benefits on Medicash Smile are paid at 100% of the receipt value up to the annual limits as set out in the plan.

For example, a claim for £200 worth of routine dental treatments would be paid £180 on level one (the annual maximum) and £200 on level two (leaving £40 of benefit still available for the remainder of that benefit year).

Do I have to cover all of my employees or can I just cover a selection?

It's entirely up to you. You can choose who you cover and at what level, provided that you cover a minimum of 10 employees under the plan.

Can employees add partners to their cover?

Employees can choose to add their partner or dependent children to their policy for a small extra charge. This extra premium will need to be collected via payroll deduction and added to your regular payment to Medicash.

Are pre-existing conditions covered?

Pre-existing conditions are only covered on the company-paid elements of the policy. Additional cover for partners and children may be subject to pre-existing condition exclusions during the first 12 months of the policy; however, any new ailments will still be covered.

Will we receive annual claims reports?

Yes. On request we are able to provide you with an annual report showing you claims experience against that of the Medicash universe. However, for data protection reasons figures cannot be supplied on an individual basis.

Can I tie this in with pay reviews?

Yes. Adding a company paid dental plan to your employee benefits package forms a good negotiating tool when reviewing pay with your staff. Medicash Smile is a valuable benefit with a high perceived value from those who use it.

How much administration is involved for us?

On signing the agreement form you will need to provide us with a complete electronic list of employees to be covered under the plan. This can usually be run from your HR or Payroll system. You will also need to inform us of any new starters you wish to add to your cover, and of course, notify us of any leavers. Medicash will deal with all other elements of the plan.

What support do you give to your clients?

We will assign a dedicated account manager to your organisation who you can call upon with any questions at any time, to make the administration of your plan more effective and easy for you.

Is the policy available on an employee funded basis?

This product is only available on a company paid or company subsidised basis.
