Stressed Out Survey

Medicash supports Samaritans' first National Stress Down Day

Stress Down Day

Stress has become an ever increasing phenomenon in work places across Britain - the effects of stress on employee productivity is costing an estimated £3.7 billion per year* - and our country’s corporate healthcare requirements have changed. Our organisation has made a commitment to fight stress in the workplace and encourage businesses to move away from the “get well and cure” mentality towards a “stay well” culture.

Medicash welcomes Samaritans’ stand to encourage employers to think more about the well-being of their staff. Our decision to support this year’s Stressed Out survey reflects our desire to understand more about the root causes of stress and to establish how it impacts individuals – both in their home and work life.

The results of the Stressed Out survey and other crucial research enable our organisation to create healthcare solutions which improve well-being in the workplace. In addition to traditional benefits and health screening, all of our plans offer a 24 hour telephone helpline, offering individuals counselling and advice relating to stress. Medicash Reward also offers the opportunity for up to six sessions of face-to-face stress counselling.

Results from the 2007 Stressed Out Survey have told us that increasing numbers of individuals - 32% - turn to alcohol when they experience stress.

Every employer has the ability to make a real difference to the quality of life of employees across the country - the importance of this responsibility cannot be underestimated.
