Help Them Beat the Booze
Contrary to popular belief, the majority of people with drink
problems do not sleep on park benches; they are in work. In fact
research by Bupa and Drinkaware has found that 9% of the workforce
comes to work at least twice a week suffering from the adverse
effects of alcohol. In view of the significant presenteeism and
absenteeism costs that can result, it is essential that employers
learn how to spot the signs of problem drinking and of stress
problems generally and learn how to deal with them. Unlike friends
and relatives of drinkers, employers simply cannot afford to wait
until an employee hits rock bottom in the hope that this will
provide them with the motivation to instigate their own recovery.
By the time they reach this stage they could have bankrupted a
business by losing key clients. So it is essential to intervene as
early as possible and take decisive action.
The treatment methods available nowadays extend far beyond just
the traditional 12-step based approach used by Alcoholics Anonymous
and most rehab clinics. Although these normally represent the most
appropriate places to start, they don't work for everyone, and in
cases when they don't work it could be worth trying some of the
revolutionary new methods. These methods, detailed in Help Them
Beat the Booze, can enable even drinkers with serious physical
addictions to go back to drinking alcohol in moderation without
exercising any willpower, and they have been demonstrating
staggering success rates of 78% to 92%.
