Medicash backs Vikings Super League Bid
The corporate community is throwing its weight behind
the Vikings' bid for Super League status in the lead up to the
final decision due to be announced on 31st March.
And this season's newly signed sponsor Medicash is the latest
organisation to voice its support for the bid for Super League
status.
The cash plan provider signed up as sponsors for the 2011 season
as part of a commitment to supporting the club but also to join
forces with other partners to develop the Vikings Business Club and
improve and strengthen links with local companies and community
groups.
Medicash Chief Executive Sue Weir said; "We are backing the bid
because Rugby League is part of the heart and soul of Widnes -
economically, culturally and socially. Being awarded Super League
Status would represent a huge boost for the club and have a real
impact on the local community.
"The Vikings narrowly missed out last time but the success and
hard work put in since then means the Super League is well within
our reach this time."
Vikings are hot favourites to secure the three year engage Super
League Licence and are competing against Halifax and Barrow who
also submitted bids.
Widnes Vikings chief executive Julie Gaskell said: "We were very
excited to have Medicash on board for the 2011 season and delighted
they are backing the bid. Sponsors' support is crucial to ensure we
can grow as a club and achieve our goal of playing in the Super
League."
