Gerald Ratner and Derek Hatton to speak at Fit for Business Conference
One of the biggest names in retail
has been unveiled as the keynote speaker at The Medicash Fit for
Business Conference in association with Insider on 18
October.
Gerald Ratner built up the Ratners jewellery empire. He grew the
family business making it Britain's biggest high street jeweller
whilst buying out H Samuel, Ernest Jones and Watches of Switzerland
along the way. But his disastrous gaffe was one of the biggest
blunders in retail history. Gerald will be talking candidly about
his rise and fall and sharing the story of his remarkable come
back.
The flamboyant and controversial ex Liverpool Council leader
Derek Hatton will never be forgotten for his high profile battles
with Margaret Thatcher. Over the last 20 years his entrepreneurial
talents have seen him transform and develop a series of successful
businesses.
Insider editor Michael Taylor is chairing the day. He said:
"Gerald Ratner's story could not be more relevant today. He is a
very entertaining speaker who will provide a refreshing insight
into crisis management that will give businesses some really
valuable advice gained from first hand experience. Though known for
his career in politics Derek Hatton has also been a great TV and
radio presenter and he has a passion for health, business as well
as expertise in employee benefits. Derek's a born entertainer and
will no doubt add a new dimension to the conference."
Medicash Chief Executive Sue Weir said: "This event will
generate new ideas and allow people a platform on which to network,
access quality ideas and discuss the hot topics affecting
businesses in the region currently."
Other speakers include the respected journalist and author
Edmund Tirbutt and the renowned Perry Timms, Big Lottery's Head of
Talent and organisational development. A packed programme will look
at a wide range of business topics including leadership, social
media, talent management and profit strategies.
The Fit for Business Conference takes place on Tuesday
18 October at the Crowne Plaza, Liverpool. Admittance is
FREE and there will be a networking buffet lunch and a post
event drinks reception.
