Ladies step out for Jospice Midnight Walk
The streets of Crosby were filled on Friday night as
over 600 Merseyside ladies took to the pavement in a bid to raise
funds for St Joseph's Hospice.
The annual Jospice Midnight Walk sponsored by Medicash saw
walkers following a new 11km route which started and finished at
Holy Family High School in Thornton and is estimated to raise over
£40,000 for the charity.
Jospice's director of fundraising Pat Murphy said, "We are
delighted with the turnout and have been overwhelmed by the support
from the local community and businesses. We want to thank all the
walkers and their supporters for the fantastic amount of money they
have raised."
Liverpool based health cash plan provider Medicash has sponsored
the fundraising event since it was launched four years ago.
Medicash's chief executive Sue Weir said, "Medicash's is delighted
to be involved with the Jospice Midnight Walk. The walk has, yet
again, created a real buzz and raised essential funds which will
allow St Joseph's to continue to provide specialist care and
support to patients and their families."
Based in Thornton, the hospice was established in 1974 and has
cared for over 5,000 people and their families.
