Medicash 'Monkeys' raise money for Alder Hey
Healthcare cash plan provider Medicash has 'fostered'
three "Mankey Monkeys" to support a fundraising initiative for the
Alder Hey Imagine Appeal.
Medicash's new furry friends have been nicknamed the "The Three
Wiseguy Monkeys" - 'See no evil, Hear no evil, Speak no evil', and
the trio of primates have taken up residence in the reception area
of their Lord Street offices.
Sue Weir, chief executive of Medicash said: "Medicash has a long
history of working with local charities and we are delighted to
support the Imagine Appeal through such an innovative project. Our
trio of monkeys represent three core benefits of our healthcare
cash plans - optical care, dental treatment and hearing aids. The
monkeys are a real talking point and seem to be putting a smile on
the faces of staff and customers."
Around 100 different monkey statues have been created and will
be on display in various locations across the city from now until
the end of March. The monkeys will then be auctioned off to raise
money for the Alder Hey Imagine Appeal.
Mankey Monkeys is a charity art project and is the brainchild of
artists David and Eirin Hallangen-Lake of Hallangen Art, who, along
with Your Business eZine and It's About Websites, have pulled the
whole project together without a penny of public funding.
David said: "The support we have received from the business
community has been tremendous. It's amazing to see companies like
Medicash get behind public art that is designed simply to make
people smile, and in turn make the city a happier place. Our 'Three
Wiseguy Monkeys' can be very proud of themselves for doing their
part - they've definitely earned their bananas."
