Medicash and The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation...celebrate the £50 Challenge success!
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation recently
celebrated the success of their first £50 Challenge which raised
over £5,000 for the charity.
Sponsored by Medicash, donations of £50 were given to 15
Merseyside organisations who were set the challenge of generating
as much money as possible from it. Businesses rose to the
fundraising challenge and organised a range of activities including
a salsa night, a Wii sports day, cake sales and staff tuck shop
with homemade smoothies.
Sue Weir, chief executive of Medicash said: "We are delighted to
support the £50 Challenge and all the organisations involved came
up with some great ideas to raise much needed funds for The Roy
Castle Lung Cancer Foundation."
An awards night took place for all the fundraisers with Dee
Roberts from the University of Liverpool winning Best Individual
Fundraiser and King Sturge taking the award for Best Fundraising
Team.
Alyson Wort from the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation said:
"The various fundraising activities of our challengers are a
perfect example of how fundraising encourages teamwork and can also
be fun. We are very grateful to Medicash for sponsoring the £50
Challenge and for all the other businesses who have taken part in
raising money which will help us in our fight against lung
cancer."
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation works to defeat lung
cancer in the UK, and the £50 Challenge sponsored by Medicash will
help fund the charity's research into the disease, educational
campaigns and patient support services offered to those affected by
lung cancer.
