Medicash signs up to support professional X-Factor

Liverpool based cash plan provider Medicash has been announced as the main sponsor of the city's very own X Factor competition called Professional Liverpool Idol.

The event is being run in partnership with Professional Liverpool which is the business network and sector support organisation for financial and professional services firms across Liverpool City Region from which most of the contestants will be drawn.

It is hoped the event will raise around £15,000 for the leading learning disability charity Mencap and already momentum is building as the search begins to unveil the most talented singer in the business community.

The event takes place on July 9 at PanAmerican, at the Albert Dock where 10 hopefuls will compete head-to-head in front of a panel with the audience having the deciding vote.

Sue Weir chief executive of Medicash said; "Mencap does invaluable work in the region and we are delighted to be supporting this event which should be tremendous fun and will raise much needed funds for the charity."

All contestants will receive professional vocal coaching from Sense of Sound before the event and will be accompanied by a live band on the night.

Mark Chadwick, chief executive of Professional Liverpool, said; "This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to trade iMacs for microphones and take part in a truly unique local charity event. Mencap is a great charity and we are happy to be involved."

Gayle Derrick, head of regional fundraising, North West, Mencap said; "It's great news that Medicash has come on board. The event is creating a real buzz and we're receiving enquiries from firms across the city wanting to take part and buy tickets."
