Medicash takes to the skies with NWAA
Liverpool based healthcare cash plan provider Medicash
is urging local businesses to follow in its footsteps and support
the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA).
Medicash chief executive Sue Weir said: "The NWAA provides a
lifesaving, invaluable service to the people of the North West and
rely solely on community fundraising and donations. We are
delighted to be making a donation to the NWAA from our charitable
trust and hope we can also raise awareness of the vital work they
do and the essential donations they need every year to keep
going."
A registered charity, the NWAA provides lifesaving helicopter
medical care across Merseyside, Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire and
Greater Manchester. The onboard paramedics are called to an average
of five life saving missions every day from road incidents, to
industrial accidents, heart attacks, sporting and rural
injuries.
Lynda Brislin, chief executive from NWAA said: "Donations and
support from individuals and organisations like Medicash are
crucial as we have to raise £4m every year if we want to keep
saving lives. We hope people will continue to support us so we can
provide care from the air to assist at serious incidents across the
North West for years to come."
Since 1999 the NWAA has flown over 10,000 emergency missions and
covers a residential population of 7 million people and an area of
5,500 square miles.
Medicash has a long tradition of charitable giving, and
regularly makes significant donations to the NHS and various
health-related charities.
NWAA are having their first major golf event on 28th May 2010
and Medicash are one of the main supporters of the event. The NWAA
Pro Celebrity Golf Challenge will take place at the brand new
championship North West National Golf Club in Rainford. For more
