Roy Castle Support Health Cash Plan in Lung Cancer Awareness Month
Date: 23/10/2006
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is using Lung Cancer Awareness Month (November) to raise awareness of a new health insurance product that gives 10 per cent of its premium to the charity and people the tools with which to look after their health.
Helping to stamp out lung cancer, the plan from health insurer Medicash will pay towards chest x-rays and consultancy fees, as well as provide dedicated telephone helplines that members can call for advice on how to stop smoking and how to deal with lung cancer.
It also pays for other everyday healthcare benefits that can help you stay fit and healthy, such as discounted membership to health and fitness clubs and health screening, to spot any warning signs of future problems.
Another important element of that plan is that for as little as £10 per month, it donates 10 per cent of the monthly premium to The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation – the only charity in the UK wholly dedicated to defeating lung cancer.
Director of Development at The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, Paul Gauntlett explains: “Lung Cancer Awareness Month aims to educate the public about the importance of the early detection of lung cancer. Medicash’s healthcare cash plan can help in this respect with its chest x-ray and consultancy benefits. We’re encouraging uptake of the plan for this reason and also because it supports our valuable work in defeating lung cancer with its donations.”
Chief Executive at Medicash, Bill Gaywood commented: “At Medicash, we’re firm believers that prevention is better than cure and so we’ve designed a plan to help and encourage our members to stay fit and healthy. We hope many people will sign up and by putting health at the top of their agenda, they will be helping The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation’s essential work too.”
Medicash will also pay towards the costs of other preventative treatments such as dental, optical and professional healthcare treatments like reflexology and acupuncture.
There are five levels benefit levels for both singles and couples, starting from £10 per month, any dependent children under the age of 18 will be covered free.
