A free week-long event for children aged 8-14, the camp is running in conjunction with the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament 2021 and will provide young people from across Liverpool with an unmissable opportunity to experience world-class tennis coaching.
Medicash’s sponsorship of the event means that the young people attending the camp are able to access tennis at no cost to their families. With over 80% of Britain’s young people reporting feelings of loneliness and isolation across the pandemic, the Medicash Foundation, the charitable arm of Liverpool-based health insurer Medicash, is thrilled to support an initiative that not only encourages the younger generation to stay fit and healthy through sports, but also provides a safe and fun environment in which to socialise, gain new experiences, and make lasting memories.
Anders Borg, director of Northern Vision, says of the project: “We want young people across Liverpool to see tennis as a great way to both have a healthy lifestyle and develop new skills. With the Medicash Foundation’s support, we’re able to provide young players from all walks of life with the skills and confidence to engage in one of the UK’s top sports.”
As the organisers of the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament, Northern Vision have seen the career beginnings of many tennis greats like Novak Djokovic, Laura Robson, Liverpool’s own Skupski brothers, and current rising star Emma Raducanu.
“Here at Medicash, we are committed to both supporting our local community and encouraging a healthy lifestyle,” says Medicash chief executive and Foundation trustee Sue Weir. “Throughout 2020 we supported a wide range of children’s charities to provide health and wellbeing aid for young people from a wide variety of backgrounds, and we’re proud to continue the trend into 2021 with our sponsorship of Northern Vision’s summer camp.”
The camp, now fully booked, will take place at the Liverpool Tennis Centre Wavertree from the 16-18th August before heading to The Liverpool Cricket Club for the 19-20th August in conjunction with the Liverpool International Tennis Tournament 2021.
