15th June 2023

Medicash, the UK’s largest corporate health cash plan provider, has appointed Charles Oddy to its Board, subject to regulatory approval. Oddy has also been appointed non-executive director of Health@Work, a wholly owned subsidiary of Medicash.

Having seen its most successful year on record in 2022, Medicash this year celebrate reaching their 500,000 policyholder milestone. This accomplishment has been strongly driven by the company’s corporate policies. As a result of this surge in interest from employers, Corporate Adviser’s 2023 Cash & Dental Plans Report named Medicash as the largest provider of corporate health cash plans in the UK.

What’s more, the company continues to maintain the respect of the wellbeing and employee benefits industry. In the first half alone of 2023, Medicash has received numerous accolades, including Health Insurer of the Year at the National Insurance Awards, and Best Healthcare Plan Provider UK at the Global Excellence Awards.

The company’s ongoing success offers a key moment for the arrival of its latest addition to the board. Charles Oddy is an actuary, investment and risk management professional with over 20 years’ experience within hedge funds, asset management, derivatives and early-stage investments. Oddy currently sits on the Board of Liverpool John Moores University where he also chairs the Audit and Risk Committee.  He also recently completed six years on the Board of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.

Oddy said: “I am immensely proud to be joining Medicash as non-executive director. It is an exciting time to join the board and welcome the opportunity to contribute to such a historic and highly respected organisation. They have an excellent team and I look forward to using my experience and knowledge to support their strategic and operational ambitions.”

Sue Weir, Chief Executive of Medicash said: “We are really looking forward to working with Charles during this exciting stage in our company’s history.  His extensive commercial experience will be a welcome addition as he joins our Audit Committee and becomes Chair of the Risk Committee.”

Commenting on Medicash’s recent success, Weir said: “In these turbulent times, our customers know that they can rely on Medicash for great value and service when it comes to supporting their everyday healthcare. I’m incredibly proud to see that those efforts are recognised not just by our customers, but by the thousands of employers across the country who trust us to facilitate the wellbeing of their workforce.”
