Medicash has appointed Paul Gambon to the new role of sales director.

Paul joined the Liverpool based health insurer in 2005 as an area sales manager before progressing to national business development manager and then head of sales in 2010.

Since 2010 Paul has managed Medicash’s national corporate sales team and helped to deliver five consecutive years of record trading results. The move to board level will now see Paul taking on a more strategic role in helping to shape the organisation’s future development strategy and growth plans in both the corporate and broker markets.

2014 saw an unprecedented 85% increase in take-up of corporate health plans, taking the insurer’s total number of policyholders to over 170,000 – up 16% on the previous year and representing 40% of the total client base.

A programme around strengthening relationships in the intermediary market has also seen commissions paid to this sector rise by 146%. The strategy to generate sales through this market has proven successful and now accounts for over 60% of all new business.

Chief executive Sue Weir said: “Paul is an asset to the company and we are delighted to announce his promotion. He has a proven track record in leading our national sales team and securing new business from various different sectors which has contributed to Medicash’s significant growth in both the corporate and broker markets. I am confident he will thrive in his new role.”

Paul said: “I am thrilled about my new role within Medicash. Medicash is a fantastic business with great ethics and values. We have some exciting new features and products in development and I am looking forward to helping advance Medicash’s position in the market.”

Prior to joining Medicash, Paul’s background in sales included working with a number of high profile brands in the recruitment sector.
