Sue Weir, chief executive of leading Liverpool cash plan provider Medicash, has been named as a finalist in the prestigious North West Institute of Directors (IOD) Awards.

The awards are designed to recognise excellence in a broad range of areas including commercial success, contribution to the wider community, innovation and leadership.

Medicash has experienced its most successful year ever in terms of trading in the last 12 months. 2017 saw over 70,000 new policies sold (a net increase of 27,846). The total number of policyholders at the end of 2017 was 227,255 (an increase of 13.9% on 2016). Turnover reached £25.6m representing an increase of £1.3m.

Sue Weir said: “It’s a tremendous honour to be shortlisted in these high-profile awards. This is also a reflection of the hard work and commitment demonstrated by our excellent team. We are all very excited.”

Medicash is a not-for-profit organisation which invests ethically, using all surplus funds solely for the benefit of its policyholders and charities. The company employs 85 people at its headquarters in Liverpool.

A glittering ceremony will take place on Thursday 3 May at the Midland Hotel, Manchester where the overall winners of the 2018 IOD North West Awards will be revealed.
